About this deal

Inexperienced astronomers or children might not notice, but there are better quality eyepieces available that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. For example, SVBONY produce a range of inexpensive, wide-angle eyepieces, and while they’re probably the cheapest you’ll find anywhere, the quality is still better than the ones supplied with the FirstScope. It is undoubtedly beautiful and mysterious, and is one of those constants in our lives that connects us to every other being on our planet.

The 4mm eyepiece has 75x optical magnification to provide a detailed look at the Moon and other planets such as the rings on Saturn. The FirstScope 76 promotes fuss-free observing but provides views that will disappoint astronomers looking for an additional piece of kit to supplement their hobby. This award-winning optical system reduces visual defects like field curvature and coma, creating an ultra-flat field for pinpoint stars all the way to the edge of today’s largest imaging sensors. Its compact design makes the FirstScope Signature Series easy to take along on your next camping trip, picnic, or hike.

Celestron Omni 2x Barlow Lens – a 2x Barlow will double the magnification of any eyepiece you attach to it. You'll also enjoy using the FirstScope to pan the Milky Way, explore open star clusters, marvel at Saturn's rings, or view favourite deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula. The 76mm spherical mirror and eyepieces are what you might expect, well, with the exception of one thing mentioned below that you definitely wouldn't expect lol. Once the measurement has been taken, we are provided with a series of results that show the optical quality of the surface plus other information. Navigating without a finder scope did prove quite cumbersome during our observations, making star-hopping especially difficult.

The filter lowers the amount of light reaching your eye, and allows it to relax and see details that would not be visible in an unfiltered view of the Moon due to glare.

The telescope has a simple portable design that can easily be transported from a bedroom window to a dedicated dark sky location. Visible as a bright white "star" to the unaided eye, we hoped for good views through the FirstScope — but, as suspected, we didn't see a great deal of detail with glare making it difficult to distinguish a phase.
